Stockings, stockings and more stockings --- Christmas stockings for the Troops that is. On November 19th, 2021 Covina Sunrise Rotarians gathered early in the morning to fill and prepare 220 Christmas Stockings for Troops stationed overseas. Together with the Interact Club at Covina High and our brand new Interact Club at Las Palmas Middle School we filled and packaged 220 Christmas stockings. The Interact Students and Rotarians donated Granola Bars, Candy, Chocolate, Sunflower Seeds, lip balm, and many other items to fill the stockings. We finished the stockings in just over one hour, mostly because all the hard work by the Interact Clubs. Job well done. Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of this article for a report on the completion of the project!
The stockings were distributed by Words of Comfort, Hope and Promise. Good News: the stockings have reached their destination point and as you can in the photos the soldiers are enjoying the many goodies they received. Here is a summary of a thank you letter from Comfort, Hope and Promise:
On behalf our military outreach, Words of Comfort, Hope and Promise we would like to thank you for supporting our troops serving overseas and based throughout the United States for Christmas! With the wonderful support of our partners and volunteers together we were able to provide over 2000 Christmas stockings, Christmas cards, cookies, and Starbucks coffee for our service members to enjoy for the holidays. We are so excited to report that we were able to provide for 22 different companies, battalions of all branches in our military. The following are some of the ones we helped bless for Christmas:
- Marines and Sailors serving in Okinawa
- 7 Navy SEAL teams, serving in Bahrain, Yemen, Guam and Shar
- Army serving in Kuwait
- Wounded Marines and Sailors based at Camp Pendleton and Balboa Medical Center in San Diego.
Great news 98% of our military received their Christmas packages on time for Christmas and hopefully the rest will arrive soon. Together we the people accomplished a lot to show our love and gratitude to America's Best our United States Armed Forces and their families for Christmas!
Wishing you a blessed and Merry Christmas!
